LUZ Publishing was born in 2017 as the editorial division of LUZ, itself founded in 2010 on the strength of the historic Grazia Neri photojournalism agency. The goal was to develop the relationship between photographic storytelling and digital communication.
The focus is on visual storytelling, with an accountable approach that uses innovative language. Journalism, creativity and digital communication coexist within the project.
We created Milano Sono Io, 'I am Milan', the first project by LUZ Publishing. The project is a website that brings together photo stories by LUZ photographers in the city of Milan.
There are five story themes, each distinguished by a different colour, and the shots are organised by location on the homepage: users can access each photography project and its specific visual interface through the map.
We Play is a wall of images, composed of photos in different formats and taken from different perspectives.
This diversity comes together as a whole thanks to the formal characteristics of the images, which are united by colour palette and mood: the texture of the fabrics, the green of the park, the grey and red of the cement and bricks, and the nets around the pitches.
Clicking on a single image opens the wall to isolate the image, emphasising that single moment in the competition, as part of a far larger and more complex setting. We Play was created in collaboration with Technogym.
The Passengers photography project is created from portraits of different faces of Milan. The images are set on two parallel tracks and can be moved to create ever new and personal combinations. The sequence of images changes every time the page is loaded and users can browse the columns in two ways: simultaneously in opposite directions or individually. Lots of very different people come together and pass each other by, just as they would on the streets of Milan. Passengers was created with Vanity Fair and was published in the magazine.
